"Let us first teach little children to breathe, to vibrate, to feel, and to become one with the general harmony and movement of nature. Let us first produce a beautiful human being, a dancing child.”
-Isadora Duncan (1909)
Seaside Children’s Dance Ensemble (SCDE) is a repertory dance company composed of children ages 8-18 who train in the Isadora Duncan dance technique with Elyssa Dru Rosenberg.
Directed by fourth generation Isadora Duncan dancer, Elyssa Dru Rosenberg, SCDE gives students the unique opportunity to learn and perform Isadora Duncan's choreography from more than 100 years ago.
SCDE member are fifth generation Isadora Duncan dancers. They are well-versed in the Duncan technique, Isadora Duncan's life and choreography, and the historical context in which Isadora created her work.
SCDE performs regularly in and around Southern California. These performances include outreach to assisted living facilities, related not-for-profit fundraisers and events, and more. For information about SCDE shows, email us at info@isadoranow.org.
Just as Isadora Duncan created her own dances, SCDE dancers are taught choreographic tools and given ample opportunity to develop their own choreographic voice.
