Welcome to isadoraNOW’s new blog. isadoraNOW is a modern dance company dedicated to preserving the works of Isadora Duncan while using her theories and movement vocabulary for education and the creation of new choreography. One major goal for our company is to raise awareness about dance and dance appreciation. More than 100 years ago, Isadora Duncan attempted to raise the status of dance from entertainment to high artform. While the past century has seen many breakthroughs in the field, dance is still one of the most misunderstood, under-taught and underfunded arts.
One of the purposes of this blog is to help educate readers and audience members about dance appreciation. We are not asking you to watch dance and to like what you see, but we are here to help you understand what to look for when you watch a dance performance, how to interpret what you see, how to explain to others what you saw and thus how to better enjoy the artform.
We would like this blog to start an open dialogue between our company and our audience, where we will listen to your comments and answer your questions about our work, about dance history and about dance generally. Please feel free to make comments or ask questions on our facebook page or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
